Time For Authenticity

I keep telling people in the studio how much I love authentic content. You know, the raw, real stuff where it’s just someone being themselves, no shiny edits or polished fluff. There’s a place for that glossy look, removing every mistake, making it all perfect, but I reckon the best content comes when you ditch that and just talk, whether it’s to the camera, with mates, or with guests.

Thing is, I looked at what we were doing with Synergy and realised I wasn’t following my own advice. We’ve got all this amazing stuff going on, working with kids, building new spaces, and I wasn’t sharing it in that real way I go on about. It was starting to feel a bit too agency-like, all slick and cringey. We can do that stuff, no problem. We’ve got a proper podcast studio here in Worthing, kitted out with top gear, but it felt like we were missing a chance to show what’s actually happening.

So I’m switching it up. This is me starting to share more of the real side of Synergy. We work with kids who have special educational needs and disabilities, teaching them digital media skills, podcasting, editing, that kind of thing. It’s brilliant watching them get stuck in, and there’s loads of cool stuff coming out of it. We’re also building another studio at the moment. Well, not right this second, everyone’s gone home, but it’s happening, and it means more space for people to come record soon. You’ll see some of the team popping up too, the faces behind what we do here.

I was sat editing the other day, thinking, how did I end up running a podcast studio? I’ve been making content since I was 20, podcasting for over 15 years, messing with videos, all of it. But this wasn’t the plan. Then it hit me. The last couple of weeks, we’ve had people calling every day wanting to book, all with different stories they want to tell. That’s when I realised it’s always been about the stories for me, the good ones, the passionate ones, the kind that can change something. That’s why I’m here.

Now I want to find more people round Worthing and beyond with stuff worth sharing. We’ll help them get it out there, keeping it simple, affordable, and real. We can do the shiny edits if someone wants that, we’ve got the setup for it, but I’d rather keep it raw. These blogs and videos are my way of practicing what I preach. I’ll chuck them up on our socials, and if you like them, say something nice. If not, give us some decent feedback, we’ll take it on the chin.

Cheers for reading this first go. If you’re near Worthing or just fancy a chat about recording, swing by www.synergypodcaststudio.co.uk. Let’s do some real stuff together.

The start of our journey.
